Why I Built This Site
So what drove me to build this site? Well, like you, I’ve learned that it’s critical to take responsibility for my own health, and do everything I can to give my body a chance to stay healthy. (And it’s worked! I’ve reached age 62 with no major health issues … at least none that staying away from big power tools and off high ladders wouldn’t avoid.)
I too am disgusted with the medical profession, where doctors have forgotten why they got into the field in the first place: to keep and/or make people healthy. The profit motive (okay, some doctors say it’s because of the system they have to work in, whatever …) and the sellout to Big Pharmaceuticals has led to the justified outrage we patients feel.
[BTW, have you read Dick Morris's book Outrage? It was a #1 Bestseller on The New York Times' list of hardcover business books. You really need to. And when you do, you'll be as angry as I am ... at how the pharmaceutical industry has manipulated this country’s doctors into becoming peddlers of many unnecessary (and, granted, many necessary) drugs. But peddlers nonetheless. It just confirms what I already knew: that we as individuals have to take charge of our own health care, by asking hard questions, researching everything and deciding on the most comprehensive, preventive course of action we can fit into our busy lives.]
I do believe there is a time to call upon doctors' fine skills, and that prescription medications have their place. But I also believe that – rather than poo-poo everything that doesn’t bring them a buck – doctors ought to be encouraging us to do whatever we can to stay healthy, and only fix what needs to be fixed.
Anyway, back to my story.
It all started with an infomercial for a colon cleansing product. It struck a cord because I was feeling out of sorts, tired, run down. From there, I decided I needed to know ‘everything you ever wanted to know about the colon’ ... and more.
I am a researcher by profession, and have been digging for information on industries and products the world over for almost 40 years. First in libraries (remember microfiche?) and trade associations, then on the internet and through interviews. Many of my clients are household names.
I approached this topic the way I would a project for a world-class client. Read everything. Asked lots of questions. Wouldn’t take “no” for an answer until I really understood things. Wanted to know if colon cleansing is viable. Then why that is the case. What the alternatives are. What other people’s experiences have been. What is good ... and what is bad.
And then I applied to myself what I learned: I underwent a comprehensive colon cleansing and body detox that together have made a huge change in my life. Brought me back my old energy, made me feel like a million bucks. So I thought I'd share what I learned.
The end result is a site that gives you a summarized version of what I discovered. Not tons of useless stuff cut-and-pasted from other sites on the internet. But rather, an actionable report on what choices you have, and some guidance in making the best ones.
To your fine health!
